Hair Restoration Specialist

With more than 25 years of experience in the hair transplant industry, I have developed a career defined by surgical expertise, medical practice leadership, and a sustained commitment to advancing hair restoration standards in Australia.

I relocated to Australia in 1988, and by 1994 began my career within a network of respected medical facilities, including Surry Hills Medical Centre, Ashbrooke Cosmetic Centre, and Surry Hills Day Hospital. This early exposure laid a strong foundation in both clinical practice and medical operations.

A pivotal milestone came in 1998, when I returned to my hometown of San Francisco to undertake advanced training in FUT hair transplantation under Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr Peter Panagotacos. A pioneer in the field with over 50 years of experience, Dr Panagotacos is a member of the ISHRS, widely respected within the ASAHRS, and author of Hair Loss Answers. Under his mentorship, I refined my technical skills, strengthened my patient-centred approach, and gained valuable insight into managing high-performing medical practices. I was entrusted with overseeing operations within his clinics, further developing my leadership capabilities.

Following my return to Australia in 2002, I resumed work at Surry Hills Day Hospital and Medical Centre, contributing both clinically and operationally. In 2005, I expanded my international experience by working on Harley Street in London alongside Dr Rad Naidu and Dr Nair, continuing this collaboration through to 2012. During this period, I also worked with leading practitioners including Dr Jennifer Martinick, Dr Jassim Daood, and Crown Clinic.

In 2012, I joined The Knudsen Clinic as a FUT technician, later advancing into FUE procedures with ARTAS robotic technology. My work with the clinic extended across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and New Zealand until 2017.

In 2016, I played a key role in modernising Crown Clinic Sydney by leading its transition from traditional FUT techniques to advanced FUE systems. I oversaw the integration of new technologies, clinical workflows, and training processes, ensuring a seamless and effective transition to contemporary hair restoration practices.

In July 2017, I founded Elite Hair Clinic, where I leveraged decades of hands-on experience to establish one of Australia’s leading FUE hair transplant centres. Working alongside a highly skilled team of directors, doctors, nurses, and surgical technicians, our focus was to deliver excellence at every stage of the patient journey. The clinic became recognised for its commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of best-in-class FUE techniques.

During this time, I met Dr Ken Brito and I was selected by Venus Concept as Australia’s first NeoGraft trainer, where I trained doctors and clinical teams in all aspects of FUE procedures — including donor harvesting, hairline design, recipient site creation, graft handling, implantation, and full patient management from initial consultation through to post-operative care and final results.

My co-founder, Dr Samuel Freedman, was a highly respected figure within the medical community. Following his retirement, his share was acquired by a younger physician eager to learn hair transplantation and trained within Elite, contributing to the clinic’s continued growth and reputation. More recently, I transitioned out of ownership, selling my shares to Dr Jarvis to pursue a more focused path aligned with innovation, hands-on collaboration, and scientific advancement.

This year, I partnered with a long-time friend and colleague, Dr Ken Brito, to establish the Dr Graft Hair Transplant Institute. Dr Brito brings extensive experience in cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery, and aesthetic medicine. Having previously collaborated nearly a decade ago on FUE procedures using the Venus Concept NeoGraft system, we share a strong clinical alignment and vision for innovation in hair restoration. Dr Brito is highly regarded within the industry for his rare combination of skills — not only as an accomplished cosmetic doctor, but as a practitioner who personally performs FUE procedures. This integration of surgical precision with aesthetic expertise sets him apart, as few cosmetic doctors in Australia combine both disciplines while also leading in hair transplantation. We are proud to be the founders of Dr Hair Transplant Institute, where our work centres on emerging frontiers in hair restoration. Our research explores nanotechnology, hair cloning, and biomedical laboratory innovation, with a focus on improving efficiency in hair growth and advancing DNA-related developments. Our goal is to bring cutting-edge international advancements—particularly from the USA and Europe—to Australia, offering patients access to the next generation of hair restoration solutions.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with leading clinics and practitioners across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville, New Zealand, Singapore, Turkey, the USA, and Europe. In Sydney, I have worked closely with Crown Clinic (Dr Tony Prochazka, Dr Ramin Amighian), Dr Michael Zacharia, Dr Kenneth Brito, and many esteemed colleagues including Dr Nik Davies, Dr George Rizk, Dr Rad Naidu, Dr Jassim Daood, Dr Russell Knudsen, Dr Vikram Prayakash, Dr Lisa Friedrich, and Dr Saro Nair.

This combination of extensive surgical experience, international collaboration, and ongoing research continues to drive my mission: to advance modern hair restoration techniques, champion innovation, and contribute to shaping the future of the industry.
